Scentwork is when a dog uses its sense of smell to identify and locate a specific scent which it has been trained to detect. Dogs love to use their noses, and their sense is smell is vastly superior to our own. Humans have trained dogs to put their noses to good use - this includes bomb detection, search and rescue, hunting, and even medical detection.
We are Scentwork UK trainers and judges, the classes are designed to be fun, whilst also being extremely mentally tiring for your dogs! Scentwork UK has different levels. You start at Level 1 and by the end of two six week blocks, you should be ready to take your Level 1 trial and compete should you choose to...it is not compulsory!
Any dog can do scentwork - it is perfect for young puppies as well as older dogs, dogs with injuries that perhaps can no longer participate in dog sports or for more timid dogs, it is excellent in helping with their confidence. It is a great activity to do between dog and owner, and can really help to strengthen the bond and relationship.
These classes are held on Wednesday evenings at 8pm at Warren Mead Junior School, Roundwood Way, Banstead, SM7 1EJ. For the full address, please go to our Class Locations page.
Rating: Artie loved the taster session, just as Bryn did too. He has come home absolutely tired out but very happy. It was a great time and now hope to complete the course. Sue with Artie
