If you have just taken on a rescue dog or your adolescent dog is no longer listening to you, then this is the course for you.

This course will cover all the basic commands you need to have a well-trained dog, plus how to deal with any problems you may be having such as jumping up and barking. We will help you to understand how dogs learn and why they do the things they do plus the importance of mental stimulation. One of the classes will take place in Nonsuch Park, so there is a chance to practice training in a real-life situation.

Please note that due to COVID restrictions, we will be adhering to social distancing of at least 2m between everyone including the dogs.  Week 1 is done without dogs, so these sessions are now being held over Zoom.  Weeks 2 -6 will be held in person.

Here are the life skills we teach:

  • How to get and keep your dog's attention
  • Recalls away from other dogs, people and other distractions such as food and toys
  • Walking on a loose lead without pulling
  • How to relax and stay calm amongst distractions
  • Manners and self-control around food, dogs and people
  • Leave and drop
  • Settling on a mat and staying
  • How to deal with jumping up and any other unwanted behaviours such as chewing or barking
  • Ideas to mentally stimulate your dog and keep their busy minds occupied
  • Included is a training pack detailing all the exercises taught, along with a dedicated Whatsapp group for your class where you can post questions throughout the course.

Our Saturday classes take place at Nonsuch Scout Hall, Bluegates, Ewell, Surrey, KT17 2SA, with a lesson taking place in Nonsuch Park.  Training takes place both indoors and outside.

Please note that this course is not suitable for dogs that are fearful and reactive to other dogs and people.  Please contact us and we can advise you what would be best in that situation.

We have just completed the above course in Ewell and wanted to say how fantastic we found it. The trainers (Alex and Debbi) were very impressive, really knowledgeable and helpful.  Benson really enjoyed himself and we learnt so much. Looking forward to doing the improvers course now!
