Dog Behaviour Consultations

I'd just like to say thanks for a really pleasurable walk yesterday, Teddy absolutely loved it. He was completely out to the world for the rest of the day. I've never seen him so shattered! Anyway, thanks again and look forward to seeing you at puppy class.

Kevin Johnston & 'Teddy' - Border Terrier

For more serious dog behavioural and emotional issues which cannot be resolved in a training environment, a behaviour consultation at your home is recommended. This takes place with the whole family present and lasts around 11/2 - 2 hours. During this time, a history of the problem will be taken and your dog’s behavior will be assessed.

Following this consultation, you will then receive a written report detailing a behaviour modification plan for you to follow, which will have been discussed during the consultation. Follow-up sessions and telephone calls can also be provided. Your vet will also receive a copy of the report.

What types of behaviour problems can we help with?

  • Dog Aggression towards dogs or humans
  • Anxiety and Fears/Phobias
  • Separation-related Disorders
  • Inappropriate behaviours including destructiveness, barking and house-training problems
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders such as shadow chasing, tail spinning etc

And more…..

Rule out medical causes for the problem behaviour

For behaviour consultations, we work solely on veterinary referrals, purely to rule out any medical causes for the dog’s problem behaviour. If your vet has not directly referred you to us, we ask that you take your pet to the vet for a check-up, and ask them to send us confirmation that the problem is not due to medical reasons.

How much does it cost?

The cost of a behavioural consultation including a written report is £85. Further travel and fuel charges may apply depending on your location.
